  Took our pet for a routine vaccination. During the check up the Vet noticed ear mites. Proceeded to pluck the dogs ears with her fingers. This took approx 30 seconds for each ear. Took wax from ear and put under microscope to identify mites. Then advised Surolan ear drops and advocate 40. Consultation concluded. Went to the front desk and was given the following bill: Advocate £8.38 (for one pipette!) Surolan £25.23 (this costs £8.88 online..) Micro slide £5.27 Grooming (Ear Plucking) £15 (Yes... For one minute total of using her hands to pull at the ears) VAT: £8.98 Total: £53.88 At no point in the consultation were prices discussed or it even explained that there will be a charge for some of the services (i.e. if you knew it would cost £15 to pluck at the ears for one minute you would do it yourself). This is completely unacceptable and seems to consitute a con at the worst and a consumer rights violation at the best. Furthermore the vet would not offer any advice on what I should do with our other dog, only insisting that I buy a £15 testing kit and bring our other dog in. This obviously would have resulted in a nice bit of extra income for the vet. (I refused to do this). In summary I would advise anyone to steer well clear of this vets. They are unprofessional, and care more about the money that can be made than the welfare of the dog.
